5 Pet Food Facts

Most often pets fall sick when their diets don't do enough to optimise their health. Commercial pet foods rarely, if ever, supply the essential supplements and vitamins that counteract diseases.

Fact 1 - There are currently no regulations in Australia for the Pet Food Industry. Only 70% of Pet Food Business's are current members of the PFIAA (Pet Food Industry Association of Australia). These members respond to incidents enquiries where non-members do not.

Fact 2 - Cat and Dog food is mostly Grain.

Most manufactured pet food is still 65% grains, grain fillers, fibers and grain byproducts. Corn based ingredients and simple carbohydrates translate to sugar. It is sugar that causes chronic inflammation, obesity and cognitive issues. Dogs and cats need Protein, healthy fats and nutrient rich ingredients for optimal health, where the commercial pet food forsakes these staples in favour of simple carbohydrates which are cheaper to produce.

Fact 3 - Ingredient labels are often incorrect.

In a study of 52 brands of mass produced dog and cat food the findings found that only 40% contained protein sources that were not listed on the ingredient list one of which the protein source couldn't be identified.

Fact 4 - You can feed your Cat or Dog Human food (with an exception to some foods)

You can feed your pet human food as long as it contains necessary vitamins and minerals for optimal health. However it is important to stick to certain food groups which will improve your pets health significantly.
